Between You and Me · Boys 10–14

The conversation most Indian boys never get — written down, so somebody finally has it.

Girls are usually told something, eventually, by someone. Boys are very often told nothing at all, and assemble the whole picture from a phone and a group chat. This is three books that say the ordinary, unembarrassed truth out loud — including the parts an adult finds hardest to start.

What this actually is

Three full-colour books, 104 pages across three books, printed at ISO B5 — a proper book size, not a pamphlet. Roughly sixty per cent explanation and forty per cent blank space, because this is a book he writes in. There are checklists to tick, trackers to fill, questions to answer and a page to sign and date.

That is the whole design idea. A book that is read once gets read once. A book with his own handwriting in it gets kept — and gets picked up again on the day it is actually needed.

✓3 books · full colour throughout · ISO B5 (176 × 250 mm)
✓130gsm art paper interior, 300gsm matte-laminated cover
✓Roughly 60% explanation, 40% space to write
✓A red-flag page in every book — including the one about pain that needs a doctor today
✓Two parent pages in each of the three books
✓Helpline printed in every book: 1098, and 112

The three books

Not three reading levels — three subjects at one age. He can open Book 2 the week he needs it without finishing Book 1 first.

Book 1

My Body Is Changing

Everything that’s starting

Every one of these has a reason, and none of them is a problem.

What’s starting

Everybody changes — at a different time each
Head to toe: what actually changes
Suddenly taller, suddenly clumsy
Your voice breaking — why, and that it passes
Sweat and smell — where boys actually get teased
Skin and spots

Why it happens

Hormones, in plain words
A calm, correctly-named diagram
Why did my friend start two years ago?
What people say vs what’s true
Girls are changing too
Sleep, food, moving — no protein or gym talk

Taking care

My growth chart — the page he will actually fill in
My own timeline: first voice crack, first shave
A daily routine, six steps
Clothes that fit, and growing out of things
Who can I ask? — father, uncle, brother, coach, doctor
Me, this year — signed and dated

Book 2

The Things Nobody Explains

The chapter that got skipped

None of this makes you strange. It makes you thirteen.

The things nobody says

What’s actually happening, in five sentences
Erections — why they happen at random, meaningless times
Wet dreams — the page this book exists for, and it comes early
The myths he has already been told, answered plainly
Bodies are not a ranking — it is not a league table

Keeping clean and well

Washing, including the part nobody explains to him
Clothes, socks and shoes — the unglamorous page that prevents the teasing
The changing room: being looked at, and looking
What’s in my bag — what makes a bad day survivable
When something hurts — and the pain that means a doctor today

Looking after yourself

Why you’re tired all the time — sleep need goes up, not down
A two-week sleep and habits tracker
Food, without the supplement nonsense
Moving your body — enjoying it, not optimising it
If nobody told you, and it already started

Book 3

The Kind of Man I Want to Be

The kind of person you’re becoming

You are becoming someone. You get to choose who.

My feelings

Why everything feels bigger
Anger — where it comes from, and that the feeling is never the problem
An anger log: what set it off, what I did, did it help
Crying is not weakness — said once, plainly
Comparing yourself, and what it costs

My body, my business

Your body belongs to you — boys are told this far less
Safe touch and unsafe touch
The rule about secrets
What you see on a phone — carefully, and age-appropriately
What’s real and what’s staged
If something happens: keep telling until someone listens

The kind of man

Respect, in plain words — and that “no” is the end of it
How you treat girls, including your sister and your cousins
Friends who are being cruel, and saying no to the group
Asking for help is strong
What strength actually is — the book’s thesis page
My rules — written, signed and dated

The part that makes it his

A growth chart he fills in himself

A boy of twelve measures himself obsessively, and always against the wrong person — the tallest boy in his class. Book 1 gives him something better to measure against: himself, three months ago. Book 3 then gives him the anger log, which is the most genuinely useful page in the set.

●Undated on purpose — he writes the date himself, so the book never expires on a shelf.
●Height and date, taken every few months, with a scale he can also mark on a wall.
●My own timeline: the first voice crack, the first shave, when his shoes stopped fitting.
●In Book 3, the anger log: what set it off, what I did, and did it actually help.

There is no predicted final height, no percentile and no target number anywhere in it. A number a boy could fail to hit has no place in this book. Book 1’s entire argument is that late is not wrong.

For you, not just for him

Two pages in every book are written to the parent

Not an afterword. A designed spread near the back of each book, set in different type, written to a father, a mother, an uncle or an elder brother — including the one who was never properly told any of this either, and feels slightly embarrassed about that.

How to start

Actual opening sentences — for the conversation most fathers keep postponing.

What not to say

Including the jokes that end the conversation permanently.

If you were never told either

Most men weren’t. The book assumes that and does not make you feel foolish.

Nothing in the child’s pages assumes you are in the room. A boy reading this alone in his room can act on every single instruction in it. The parent pages add to that; they are never the thing holding it up.

What is deliberately not in these books

Worth knowing before you buy, because it is the part most parents ask about.

×How babies are made. One line pointing to you or a doctor — that conversation stays yours.
×No dating and no sex. Attraction appears once, at feelings level only.
×Nothing explicit. The page about what he might see on a phone is written to give him a frame for it, and stops firmly there.
×No supplement, muscle or gym framing, and no body held up as the one to reach.
×No weight talk, and no food sorted into good and bad.
×Nothing on the cover names the subject.

Look at the covers again

Not one of the three names the subject. No cartoon diagram, no word a classmate could read across a desk — just the series name, a quiet descriptor and an illustration. He can leave any of these three on his desk or in his bag without it announcing anything about him — which is the difference between a book that gets read and a book that gets hidden.

The spine and the back carry the plain description, so you can find the right one on a shelf. The front is built for him.

Who this is for

Parents of a 10–12 year old
The core case. Early enough that it arrives before the questions do, rather than after he has already found his own answers.
Fathers who keep postponing it
The books do the starting. Two pages in each one are written to you, including what not to say.
Mothers raising a son
Especially single mothers. Nothing in the set assumes a man is available to explain it.
The boy with a phone
He has one, and Book 3 is written for the boy who already has. Pretending otherwise helps nobody.

There is a set for the other one too

There is a girls’ set — the same three-book structure, written for girls 9–13, with a six-month period tracker where this one has a growth chart. Same design, same size, same care, the same two parent pages — deliberately the same colours on Book 3 of both. If you have a son and a daughter, the shelf itself makes the point that they are being treated the same.

Use the edition switcher at the top of this page to see the girls’ set.

He is going to work it out from somewhere. This is a better somewhere.

Between You and Me · Boys 10–14 · Three books, full colour, delivered across India.

Health information for general education only. It does not replace advice from a doctor. Each book carries a red-flag page telling him exactly when to speak to an adult or a doctor, and India’s child helpline — 1098, or 112, the emergency number.
